How I scope a freelance website or web app project

What belongs in a brief, how a fixed-scope quote is built, and how change requests stay honest through launch.

A brief I can quote from

I quote from a written scope, not a vague “kind of like this site.” A useful brief lists the business goal, must-have pages or features, examples you like, deadline, and a budget range. Short bullets are enough.

From that I split the work into milestones: structure and design direction, core pages or app flows, integrations, then polish and launch. You see something clickable at each step instead of a big reveal at the end.

How change stays honest

Change is normal. New pages, payment gateways, or CMS work get written down and priced so the original quote stays honest. That is how we avoid surprise invoices and unfinished launches.

If you are ready to start a website or web app, send the brief through the contact page. I reply with a timeline, what is in scope, and what we should leave for a later phase.
